‘Shazam!’ Sequel Starts Rolling, ‘Black Adam’ Update

 

Shazam! debuted in theaters this past week, winning the box office with a $53 million domestic take. In non-Comics Pit-shocker news, WB is gearing up for a sequel to the film. Proof of the follow-up came in the re-hiring of the original movie’s writer, Henry Gayden, for the sequel. Though not confirmed, both Shazam! director David F. Sandberg and producer Peter Safran are expected to return for the sequel. No release date has been announced for a second movie.

In other Shazam related news, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who announced his involvement with the Marvel Family adversary character, Black Adam in 2014, has a sort of update regarding the his film. Johnson took to Instagram to congratulate Shazam on his box office success and warned that Black Adam will start production within the year:

So, like the Shazam! sequel there is no release date, but at least we know it won’t be early 2020…
