Yes, despite what you might think, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be back for a sixth season. We’ve already seen the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie (Henry Simmons), and saw the tease that although Phil Coulson is dead (SPOILER!), actor Clark Gregg is back anyway.
Now we have more proof that the sixth season is indeed on its way in the form of a sixth season cast photo:
Boy do they look happy to be back. In the center we see Mack, and… did S.H.I.E.L.D. just reopen as a trendy bar or something? Next to him, gazing at him fondly, is Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) with her mechanical arms. On the other side of Mack is Daisy Johnson aka. Quake (Chloe Bennet). On the far left, Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) is back and her time away doesn’t look like it did her much good, next to her is not-Coulson looking like he was scolded pretty bad. On the far right we have season 5 newcomer Deke Shaw (Jeff Ward). Next to Shaw is Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and her frozen-in-space husband Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker). He looks pretty spry for a Fitz-icle… And what are those symbols he is pointing to hmmm?
Fans of the show can see the season premiere, directed by the previous director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Clark Gregg, first on March 30 at WonderCon, the show returns for the rest of us in May. Lou Diamond Phillips has also signed on to direct an episode in season six.
Update 03/30/19: At WonderCon, it was announced that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 6 will start May 10th on ABC.
