Will Smith Leaves Suicide Squad Sequel Presumably To Focus On Good Movies Like Aladdin

Even with writer/director James Gunn on board, Will Smith won’t be returning for the sequel to the Oscar-winning Suicide Squad. Variety was told that it came down to scheduling as Gunn wants to get production started in the fall, before Warner Bros. finds out about his Twitter history.

Smith portrayed Deadshot in the first film, which grossed over $746 million worldwide. His upcoming projects include Spies In Disguise, Aladdin, and Gemini Man. All of which are set to release by fall, with no other projects announced. Scheduling indeed.

The Suicide Squad sequel is set to release Aug 6, 2021.
